Frequently Asked Questions
About the School
What grades does Excalibur serve?
For our inaugural year (Fall 2026), we enroll scholars in kindergarten through third grade. We add one grade level each year with the goal of becoming a full K-12 academy.
Is Excalibur a religious school?
Excalibur is a Christian school that supports parents in guiding their children in their chosen doctrine. We welcome and respect all Christian faiths. In alignment with the American Classical Leadership Education® model—which is intentionally designed for scholars from diverse religious backgrounds—scholar faith and conscience must be respected, never compelled. Enrolled families must also hold no ill will toward the Christian faith.
What curriculum does Excalibur use?
We follow the American Classical Lyceum model developed by the John Adams Academy, integrating the great books, the liberal arts, and a mentor-based approach to instruction.
How large are classes?
Class sizes range from 10 to 20 scholars per grade, ensuring meaningful individual attention from mentors.
About Classical Education
What is classical education?
A time-tested approach using great books, the liberal arts, and a structured curriculum to develop students who think independently, communicate persuasively, and act virtuously.
Why the great books instead of textbooks?
Textbooks summarize and interpret ideas. Great books present the ideas themselves. Direct engagement develops depth of understanding no summary can replicate.
Why do students study Latin?
Latin sharpens English vocabulary and grammar, trains the mind in logical analysis, and provides direct access to foundational texts of Western civilization.
About Enrollment
What is the application deadline?
We practice rolling admissions until all seats are filled. We encourage families to apply early, as class sizes are intentionally small and with 100% scholarship for all we expect all classes to be wait-listed this summer.
Is there an entrance exam?
No standardized entrance exam is required. Our process includes an application, family interview, and review of prior school records when applicable.
Do you offer before- or after-school care?
Details about extended care options will be announced prior to the start of the school year. Please contact us for the latest information.
